Description -
The single-story Ranch style house at 2435 9th Avenue features a basic rectangular plan which measures 36' N-S (across) by 28' E-W (deep). It is supported by a low, painted black concrete foundation, and its exterior walls are clad with white horizontal aluminum siding. The foundation walls are penetrated by casement type basement windows with metal frames. The house is covered by a low-pitched hipped roof, covered with grey asphalt composition shingles. The widely-overhanging eaves are boxed, with painted white wood trim. There is no chimney. All of the home's windows feature painted green metal frames and painted green wood surrounds. Three sets of tripled single-light casement windows, each topped by three transom lights, penetrate the façade wall on the east elevation. Two sets of tripled and one set of tripled casement windows, with transom lights, are located on the south elevation. A set of paired casement windows, a single-light fixed-pane window, flanked on either side by a small single-light casement window, and a set of tripled casement windows, are all located on the west (rear) elevation. A stained natural brown wood-paneled solid wood front door, with three stepped upper sash lights, is located on the façade. This door leads into the house from a 12' by 4' 3-step concrete porch, with black wrought iron railings and posts which support a low-pitched hipped porch roof. A painted white wood-paneled door, with one upper sash light, and covered by a white synthetic storm door, enters the house from a 4' by 6' concrete stoop at the south end of the west elevation.
Historical Background -
Built in 1957, the Ranch style house at 2435 9th Avenue was originally owned by Robert L. Masters. According to Greeley city directories and City of Greeley Building Inspection Department files, Masters owned and lived here through the mid-1960s. Chris and Inger Christiansen were the property's next owners. They lived and owned here with their children, Rank and Scott in the late 1960s and throughout much of the 1970s.
From the lat 1970s to the present (2006) the property has been owned by Daniel T. and Teri E. Foster, currently of Eaton. City directories indicate the Fosters have maintained it as a rental for nearly three decades. Some of the house's occupants in the 1980s and 1990s included, Melisa Meilahn, Celeste Moore, D. Brunmeier, Eli Wolcott, and Tia Jones.
